Burnout Recovery

Burnout isn’t just in your head. It lives in your nervous system.

If you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or not like yourself anymore, your body may be stuck in a stress pattern that hasn’t had a chance to fully resolve.

As a naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist with 15 years of experience, I work with your body to help it come out of survival mode and return to balance.

You might be experiencing burnout if you:

  • feel tired no matter how much you rest
  • have brain fog or trouble focusing
  • feel overwhelmed by things that used to feel manageable
  • can’t sleep even though you’re tired
  • notice anxiety, irritability, or emotional swings
  • feel disconnected, flat, or unmotivated
  • have trouble experiencing joy, genuine excitement, or connection with yourself or others
  • are dealing with both mental and physical exhaustion

Burnout doesn’t always look like collapse. Sometimes it looks like doing everything you need to do, but not quite feeling like yourself anymore.

What’s actually happening

Burnout isn’t just about stress.

It’s what happens when your nervous system has been under pressure for too long without enough support to reset.

Over time, your system can get stuck in patterns like:

  • constant activation (wired, anxious, on edge)
  • shutdown (exhausted, foggy, unmotivated)
  • cycling between the two

This affects your:

  • energy
  • mood
  • focus
  • digestion
  • hormones
  • immune system
  • ability to recover

How I approach burnout

I don’t treat burnout as something to “push through” or fix with willpower.

As a naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist with 15 years of experience, I work with your body to help it come out of survival mode and return to balance.

Each visit with me is personalized and includes:

  • Naturopathic care to support and nourish underlying nutritional, lifestyle, and physical imbalances
  • Acupuncture (5 Element + TCM) to regulate your nervous system and support emotional processing
  • Craniosacral therapy gentle, hands-on work to release tension and support deeper states of rest and recovery

This allows us to work on both:

  • the root causes
  • and how your body is currently responding with symptoms

What makes this approach to burnout different

Most approaches focus on either:

  • talking about the problem
  • or treating isolated symptoms

This work is different.

You’re receiving:

  • 3 therapies in one visit
  • care that is adapted to you each time
  • a focus on deep nervous system regulation, not just symptom control
  • support that includes diet, lifestyle, and daily habits you can actually follow
  • longer appointments (90 minutes) so your system has time to settle and reset
  • clear, practical guidance so you understand what’s happening in your body and how to maintain your progress

The goal isn’t just to feel better temporarily.
It’s to help your system recover and sustain that balance over time.

What you can expect

Over time, patients often notice:

  • more stable, sustainable energy
  • sharper focus and less brain fog
  • feeling calmer and less reactive
  • improved sleep
  • a greater sense of capacity and resilience
  • more calm, presence, and connection with themselves and others
  • greater clarity, confidence, and steadiness when facing challenges
  • a better ability to process emotions instead of feeling stuck or overwhelmed

This is a gradual process, but it’s one your body is capable of.

And you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I’m here to support you.

Who this is for

Working with me may be a good fit if you:

  • feel burned out, exhausted, or overwhelmed
  • want a natural, mind-body based approach
  • are open to working on both physical and emotional patterns
  • are looking for personalized care, not a one-size-fits-all plan

FAQ

Do I need to be diagnosed with burnout?
No. If you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or not like yourself, that’s enough.

Will I need a lot of supplements or testing?
Not necessarily. Dr. Liz can order labs and recommend supplements, but her focus is on what will actually help your system recover without unnecessary cost. Typically she relies more on bodywork, counseling, and lifestyle changes.

What if I’ve tried other things already?

Many patients come in after trying multiple approaches. Dr. Liz’s integrative work often supports the body in a different way.

She also places a strong emphasis on helping you understand what’s happening in your body and how to work with it. Over time, the goal is for you to build the awareness and tools to support yourself and rely less on ongoing care.

She cares deeply about her patients and she goes above and beyond by asking about life stressors and emotions. She views no separation between physical, mental, and emotional health. Her wise advice has helped me create better boundaries and I am very grateful.
