Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a 100% natural and minimally invasive treatment.
Here’s how it works:
Collagen and circulation to your skin decrease as you age
Collagen and elastin are fibers in our skin that are responsible for skin structure and elasticity.
They break down with age, sun damage, diet and lifestyle choices, chronic skin conditions like acne, and more. As a result our skin sags, wrinkles, or scars.
Blood flow to the skin also decreases over time which can impact skin health.
Microneedling naturally stimulates collagen growth and improves blood flow
Microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin which stimulate collagen and elastin fibers to regrow, helping to plump and lift the skin. As collagen is rebuilt, the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, wrinkles, age spots, and stretch marks decreases.
Microneedling also helps blood vessels to regenerate which gives your skin a fresh glow and helps to maintain the health of your skin over time.
Results can last for years
It takes about 1 month for new collagen to finish its growth cycle so treatments are spaced 1 month apart. You may notice changes after a single treatment, but you’ll more likely notice an additive effect over the full course of 4-6 treatments.
Results will continue to improve for several months after your last treatment and can last up to 5 years making microneedling very cost and time effective.
“I’ve unfortunately struggled with acne most of my life and now have deep scarring that I’d been desperately trying to find a way to smooth out.
Since the microneedling sessions with Dr. Liz I’ve noticed a huge reduction in the depth of scarring that I once had and my skin looks and feels much more plump and smoother. I was also surprised to notice that my acne was not as troublesome as it was before starting our series of microneedling sessions.
After our intake, Dr. Liz applies a cool layer of numbing cream to my face and we let it sit while she addresses the rest of my body with acupuncture. After some time of letting the numbing cream take effect, she wipes it off and starts the microneedling process. It’s comfortable, thorough, and quick with only some slight sensation of the needles. Once the microneedling is finished, light therapy is placed over my face and it adds a subtle kind of warmth and it helps me relax and my skin to be less inflamed.
The combination of acupuncture, light therapy and microneedling makes for a relaxing, productive, and enjoyable experience.”

“I was searching for natural ways to improve my facial skin issues that included upper lip wrinkles and my skin texture/color that was rough and somewhat mottled from years of outdoor work and sun exposure.
The acu-microneedling sessions with Dr. Liz have been great! They’ve helped my skin and I feel like I get a full body rejuvenation every treatment.
After 6 sessions my upper lip lines are less noticeable, my skin is smoother and the color is more even. The microneedling even helped increase circulation to the tip of my nose after a surgery that was slow to heal.
I’m very happy with my results! Thank you Dr. Liz!”

- Dark spots (melasma, age spots)

How does microneedling work?
The microneedling pen creates microtrauma with 16 tiny, sterile needles in the upper layers of your skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production and new blood vessel growth. More collagen and elastin causes the skin to become firmer, reduces scars gradually, and smooths wrinkles over time. New blood vessel growth helps keep your skin healthy and glowing.
Is it painful and will I bleed?
Dr. Liz uses a prescription strength numbing cream to help decrease sensation while the microneedling is being performed. Some pinpoint bleeding is likely to happen, but it’s minimal and should resolve quickly.
Is this like a vampire facial?
No. This procedure doesn’t involve PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or a blood draw. New research suggests that getting into the deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) is not necessary for stem cell and fibroblast stimulation (the cells that will regenerate your skin tissue). Bleeding is expected to be minimal and recovery time is shorter.
How many treatments will I need and over what time period?
It’s expected to need 4-6 treatments experience the full benefit of the therapy. Treatments are typically spaced 1 month apart but a longer gap between sessions is also ok. Microneedling sessions should not be done any more frequently than 1 month as the skin needs time to heal.
How long do the results last?
Results can last up to 5 years making treatment very cost effective.
Is microneedling covered by insurance?
No.
Are there any contraindications to treatment?

I’ve done dermarolling. Is this the same thing?
